Warrensburg Middle School is offering Full day Summer School this year. The WMS Summer School Program will run May 26 – June 18

Summer school hours will be 7:30 to 2:30pm four blocks per day, four days a week, for four weeks. Doors will open at 7:15 am. 

Breakfast will be available for $2.00 from 7:15 to 7:30 am and lunch will be available for $3.20 during our lunch breaks. 

Our feature class will be 6th Grade Survivor Course! This class is an introduction to middle school (see course description) to help incoming 6th graders feel confident and prepared for Fall 2026. We request that all incoming 6th graders attending summer school take this class. Course offerings for summer school are based on the number of students requesting each class. To guarantee your child’s enrollment and ensure that the classes they want will be offered, please complete the enrollment form no later than April 30th

Grades 6-8 | A Big Adventure: Secrets from Around the World with Mrs. Schmidt      

Pack your bags… and prepare for the unexpected. 🌍✈️ In this exciting class, students will travel the globe without leaving the classroom—exploring famous landmarks, tasting cultures, and experiencing virtual adventures from every continent. But there’s a twist… we’ll also uncover the *dark side of history*. From mysterious events to surprising stories that changed the world, students will dig into the moments history books don’t always highlight.

Get ready for a journey that’s equal parts adventure and intrigue—where every destination has a story, and not all of them are what you’d expect. FOOD ALLERGY ALERT!


Grades 6-8 | ART AWESOMENESS with Ms. Collins                            

Do you enjoy making art? Then this class is for you! We will express our creative sides through visual, 3-D, charcoal, paint, clay and fabric art lessons. Activities will possibly include wooden hot glue dream houses, 3D neon paintings, ugly face mugs, clay food sculptures, Plein Air photography drawings, batik textiles with tie-dye shirts, and much more!!! Students are encouraged to bring an open mind and a positive attitude as students will work together on many projects. Hope to see you soon!!


Grades 6-8 | Bring Your A-Game! With Ms. Parsons                                

Are you ready to compete, create, and level up? It's game on! This is a sports themed class where we’ll explore different sports through classic movies, real games, team challenges, and themed snacks. You’ll compete in friendly competitions, design your own team logo and gear, take on challenges that test your skills and teamwork and more. Whether you love sports, just like being part of a team pr watching movies, this class is all about enjoying movies, having fun, trying new things, and building confidence. Grab your team — it’s game time!


Grades 6-8 | Crime Lab with Ms. Cline                                        

Step into the shoes of a detective! If you love mysteries, solving puzzles, and cool science experiments, this is the ultimate
summer adventure for you! Become a real-life investigator as you collect clues, analyze evidence, and crack the
case using hands-on forensic science techniques. From decoding secret messages to dusting for fingerprints, every day brings a
new challenge. You’ll uncover the science behind real-life investigations and put your detective skills to the test. Work with
your team, think like a CSI, and solve the ultimate mystery before time runs out!


Grades 6-8 | DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS with Mr. Braley                          

Dive into storytelling, creative writing, collaboration, and critical thinking through the tabletop roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons (D&D). Students will learn how to build characters, design settings, run short adventures, and use roleplaying to practice communication, problem-solving, and empathy. The class balances guided instruction with hands-on play and creation


Grades 6-8 | FINDING YOUR SPARK with Ms. Holdren              

Get ready to activate your mind, body, and spirit in Finding Your Spark.  Move it Mondays will include learning about and experiencing lifetime sports such as golf, pickleball, strength training, yoga, and more.  Try it Tuesdays will consist of trying new things such as karaoke, line dancing, card games, and performing community service. Walk it Wednesdays will entail walking field trips to nearby parks and local venues with food and drinks.  On Thoughtful Thursdays, students will spend time reflecting on their experiences through journaling, grounding, vision board creation, and meditation. If you are interested in spending time outdoors, embodying a healthy lifestyle, and embracing self-discovery, then Finding Your Spark is the optimal summer school course for you!


Grades 6-8 | From Myths to Marvel with Mr. Terry                              

This class explores the connections between ancient mythology from diverse cultures and modern comic books/movies. Students will investigate how myths shaped early storytelling and how those same ideas appear in today's comics. Through reading, discussion, visual analysis, movies and creative projects, students will compare themes, characters and cultural values while building literacy, critical thinking and creativity skills.


Grades 6-8 | Game Craft Lab with Mr. Hazen                                    

In this hands-on, project-based class, students explore creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork through interactive design challenges. Students will design and create their own original games, developing rules, objectives, and prototypes while learning how to test, revise, and improve their ideas. Throughout the course, students work in small collaborative groups to tackle real-world engineering challenges, including an Egg Drop Challenge, where teams design a structure to protect an egg from impact using limited materials. Students will also participate in a Bridge-Building Challenge, where they design and construct the strongest possible bridge, testing durability and efficiency. This class emphasizes critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and perseverance. Students learn how to communicate ideas, work effectively in teams, and apply the engineering design process in a fun and engaging environment.


Grades 6-8 | Hogwarts Summer Academy with Mrs. McDonald                    

Step into the wizarding world at Hogwarts Summer Academy, a magical 4-week adventure designed for young witches and wizards! This immersive reading and hands-on learning experience brings Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to life through sessions that blend literacy with creativity. Students begin their journey by receiving personalized Hogwarts acceptance letters and getting sorted into Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin by the legendary Sorting Hat. Throughout the program, participants will craft their own wands complete with unique cores and wood types, brew actual potions using safe science experiments, play modified Quidditch games, design original magical creatures, build 3D models of enchanted plants, and create detailed spellbooks. Each week follows Harry's adventures while students compete for house points through teamwork, creativity, and magical achievements. Students will read together, solve problems collaboratively, express themselves through multiple creative mediums, and discover themes of courage, friendship, and believing in yourself. No prior magical experience required—just bring your imagination and prepare for the summer adventure of a lifetime as you compete for the House Cup and create unforgettable memories!


Grades 6-8 | Hobby Haven with Ms. Frazier                                

Dive into an exciting course of sports, arts, games, crafts, and more!

Have fun exploring different hobbies as we learn about each other and trade secrets about the different hobbies we share. Let’s pass on our family traditions of teaching each other how to crochet. Make dog toys with those old t-shirts you’re ready to throw out. Maybe you want to try stop motion videos but can’t figure it out. When was the last time you made keychains with fusebeads?  Let's learn together and have fun trying them out even if it doesn’t become your favorite hobby! 

By the end of this summer, you won't just have one new hobby-you’ll have a portfolio of skills and a network of friends who share your passions. Which will be your favorite? 


Grades 6-8 | IMAGINATION STATION! with Mrs. Swope                          

Students will have so much fun with these hands-on creative activities! When you sign up for this class, you will get to

work with a partner for most of our activities!! We will do things like:

Grades 6-8 | OUTRAGEOUS FUN WITH THE OUTDOORS with Mrs. Crowder               

Do you love adventure and nature? Students will be provided with an opportunity to connect with nature by participating in physical outdoor activities, interactive games and cool crafts.


Grades 6-8 | Puzzle Wall Legends: Peace, Pretzels & Pieces with Ms. Moore              

Become part of a legacy in Puzzle Wall Legends: Peace, Pretzels & Pieces—a chill-but-challenging summer experience where calm minds create lasting masterpieces. In this class, you'll take on jigsaw puzzles of all shapes, sizes, and difficulty levels—working solo or in teams to conquer the pieces one calm session at a time. With relaxing music, cozy vibes, and daily pretzel snacks, it’s the perfect place to unwind while building brainpower.
But here’s the legendary twist: every completed puzzle will be glued, signed, and added to the famous puzzle wall in Ms. Moore’s room—where students from years past proudly point out their finished pieces. Grades 6-8 | Readers Theatre with Mrs. Nigro 🎭            

Step into the spotlight this summer! Join our fun, creative theatre class where imagination comes to life.

Perfect for Students who love: Acting and performing, Creating sets and costumes, Writing scripts and Working as a team.

New this year: Older students can become Student Directors, leading groups and helping bring the show to life!


Grades 6-8 | Rootbeer and Robots with Mr. Patton                            

Robots. Androids. Cyborgs. Explore how robots are represented in different books, movies and television shows. Each week of this class will feature a different time period or universe of robots and an appropriately themed snack to go with it. This includes exploring television shows and comic books from the 1960's and enjoying a rootbeer float. It also includes exploring the Droids of the Starwars universe while sipping blue milk and snacking on Wookie Cookies.


Grades 6-8 | Survivor! With Ms. McFail                                        

Get ready for the coolest summer ever! This isn’t regular summer school – it’s a Survival Adventure!

You’ll join a team (your “tribe”), compete in exciting challenges, build cool stuff like shelters, solve mysteries, play strategy games, and earn rewards along the way. Every week brings new missions, fun competitions, and chances to show off your teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills. You might be designing, building, racing against the clock, or outsmarting another tribe – all while leveling up your reading, math and science skills without it even feeling like school.

Jump on the trail as we enjoy what the outdoors has to offer.

Get ready to learn and play! Each week, you'll explore a new sport--discovering its history, rules, and greatest moments--before hitting the field to try it yourself. From soccer and football to ultimate frisbee and track & field, this class is all about fun, competition, and teamwork. Learn it, play it, and experience the ultimate summer of sports!


Grades 6-8 | Water, Water Everywhere, Water, Water In the Air with Mrs. Wilson

If you want to learn, discover, and explore the bodies of water around Warrensburg and the world sign up for this class. “Water, water, everywhere, water, water in the air.” We will study water animals, and their habitats consisting of the different bodies of water, (including lakes, streams, brooks, and oceans.) We will do awesome activities like field trips, play games, do experiments, make fun projects, and be so engaged in our having fun we won’t realize we are learning.
